Brady Hoke, the former Michigan head coach, has been named as the defensive coordinator for Oregon per Mark Helfrich and the official Oregon site.
He was previously let go at Michigan after compiling a 31-20 overall record and an 18-14 record in the Big-10. His final season he went 5-7.
He has over 20 years of coaching experience and has been given multiple coaching awards, including the Big-10 coach of the year. And he has been excellent at coaching solid defense.
Some were fairly happy about this:
Great hire by @WinTheDay . Brady Hoke is a hell of a coach and will fit in awesome at Oregon. #GoDucks

@noahoregon @AndrewGreif if he can replicate any of the defensive performances at UM, it'll be a great hire.
