After Oregon's collapse in the Alamo Bowl against TCU, fans everywhere were calling for defensive coordinator Don Pellum to be fired. On Monday, Pellum was moved from the role of defensive coordinator to linebackers coach. This change came after the Ducks blew a 31 point halftime lead in Saturday's Alamo Bowl against TCU as the Horned Frogs capped off the biggest comeback in college football bowl game history.

Outside linebackers coach Erik Chinander accepted a defensive coordinator position at another FBS program, opening the slot for Pellum to move into.
The change was much-needed for the Ducks, who ranked 116th in the FBS in scoring defense and 117th in total defense this year, which was statistically one of the worst season ever on defense for Oregon.
The university announced that a nationwide search for a new defensive coordinator would begin immediately.
