- Oregon senior offensive lineman Cameron Hunt didn't mince words when talking about his team's desire to win this year. "We've got some guys on our team that are busting their tails to win and other guys on our team that don't care if we win or lose." Hunt categorized 30-40 percent of the team as the latter.
- 4-star guard and top 100 prospect V.J. Bailey has committed to the Duck basketball team. Bailey chose Oregon over a host of schools including Arizona, Creighton, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, and Texas A&M. The 6'3" combo guard and Texas native is the first commit of the 2017 recruiting class.
- Amidst much scrutiny this season both inside and outside of Eugene, Mark Helfrich is focused on the present. Helfrich maintained that the focus was on "getting better, improving and competing as a team" after suffering one of the worst losses in recent years and not on job security.
