Oregon fans set up GoFundMe page to buy out Mark Helfrich’s contract

Spoiler Alert: They’re not close to the goal

NCAA Football: Oregon at Washington State James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

With Oregon coming off their third straight loss for the first time since the 2007 season, many fans have become impatient and want change now.

As a result of the losing streak, an Oregon fan has set up a GoFundMe page with hopes to raise the $11 million necessary for the athletic department to buy out Mark Helfrich’s contract and send him on his way. As of Monday night, the page has raised $210.

Here is the story behind the page, courtesy of Ryan Sotelo, the man responsible for the fundraising effort.

As fans of Oregon, we all love our Ducks. We love them too much to allow a coach like Helfrich ruin the program.

The Ducks have the best facilities, the best gear, the best of everything...Now they need the best coach. Mark Helfrich is not the guy for the job. Its time to take action and make a statement for the Oregon AD.

That statement?

Fire Helfrich.

100% of contributions will go towards the Oregon AD, but only on the condition it is used for Helfrich's buyout/firing.

If the funds are not accepted, (Such as if they don't want to fire him...) then 100% of these funds will go towards St. Jude's childrens hospital, or a similar organization.

A total of 10 people have contributed to the page, with the largest donation being $100 from a fan who commented, “This guy has ruined Oregon football.”

Yeah, he took us to a national championship game. Just an awful dude, get him out of here.

As ridiculous as the page is, at least all the money should be going to a good cause. I’m not usually good at predictions, but I’m going to guess that any of the money raised here is going to go to an actual good cause instead of its intended purpose.

So if you’re thinking about donating to this ridiculous GoFundMe page, it might not actually be the worst thing you’ve done this week.
