5-star Alabama transfer QB Blake Barnett to take official visit to Oregon

Another year, another transfer QB?

True freshman Justin Herbert just tied the Oregon school record for passing yards in a game, but that won't stop the Ducks from looking at their third transfer quarterback in as many years.

According to a 247Sports report, former 5-star Alabama QB recruit Blake Barnett will take an official visit to Oregon when the Ducks face the Stanford Cardinal in Eugene on November 12.

Barnett lost out on the battle for Alabama’s starting quarterback job this year, so he transferred to Palomar College in California, leading head coach Nick Saban to throw some shade at Barnett. Of course, Saban didn't mention Barnett by name, but everyone knew exactly who he was talking about.

During Barnett’s recruiting process, the 5-star quarterback did have an offer from Oregon, plus Arizona, Cal, Michigan, Tennessee, as well as other schools. Barnett was a longtime commit to Notre Dame before flipping to Alabama.

Barnett started one game this year for Alabama, completing 11 of 19 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns.

If Oregon is hoping to lure in Barnett, it probably won't help that they recently benched FCS transfer quarterback Dakota Prukop in favor of Herbert.

It will be interesting to see what Barnett’s impression is when Justin Herbert is the new star on campus, considering that Barnett would need to go through another quarterback battle with Herbert and the rest of Oregon’s quarterbacks to land the starting job.
