Oregon basketball nearly falls out of AP Top 25 in latest poll

NCAA Basketball: Maui Invitational-Oregon at Georgetown Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

First, they were ranked No. 4 to begin the season. Then, they lost to Baylor, dropping them to No. 13. Next, they lost to Georgetown in Maui, dropping them even further, all the way down to No. 23.

It hasn’t been a pretty start to the season for the Oregon Ducks basketball team, who had high preseason expectations. The Ducks barely squeezed into the AP Top 25 this week after their second loss in six games.

Oregon tied Indiana for the biggest fall in this week’s poll, with both schools dropping 10 spots from last week’s rankings. The Hoosiers fell from No. 3 to No. 13 after a shocking loss to Fort Wayne.

Now, the Ducks will try and rebound from a rocky start to the season. The schedule turns in their favor, playing at home for the next month. Aside from a “neutral” site game against UNLV at the Moda Center in Portland, the Ducks won't go on the road until they head to Seattle on January 4 to take on the Huskies.
