You can't get everything you want on National Signing Day, and Oregon learned that lesson the hard way as 4-star defensive end Connor Murphy committed to the USC Trojans on Wednesday. Murphy had Oregon among his list of finalists, but chose USC in the end.

Murphy, who is 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds, had Alabama, Arizona State, Michigan, Oregon and USC in his top five. You might remember that Jim Harbaugh pulled all the strings to try and get Murphy to come to Michigan by literally sleeping over at his house.
Oregon went to visit Murphy, but they were always considered as a longshot for landing the talented defensive prospect.
The Trojans jumped to No. 17 in the Scout recruiting rankings after landing Murphy. Oregon remains in the top 25, coming in at No. 22 in Scout's recruiting rankings.
