Oregon transfer Kavell Bigby-Williams named NJCAA Player of the Year

On Sunday, the Ducks landed 4-star forward Kavell Bigby-Williams, who is transferring from Gillette College in Wyoming. Today, we got another idea on just how big of a splash the Ducks made by bringing in Bigby-Williams as he was named the Spalding NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Year.

This past season, Bigby-Williams averaged 16.8 points, 13.6 rebounds and 5.9 blocks per game for Gillette.

This marks the second year in a row Oregon has brought in the reigning NJCAA Player of the Year. Last year, the Ducks landed Chris Boucher, who won the award after averaging 22.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game.

Now, both Boucher and Bigby-Williams will join forces in Eugene for the 2016-17, making an already strong team even better by adding a fellow big man for Boucher down in the paint. Oregon set a school record for blocks this past season, and the addition of Bigby-Williams suggests that record could fall yet again next season.
