The 2016 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials begin today at Hayward Field in Eugene, and we’re kicking things off with one of the most anticipated races of the trials.

Earlier this year, Galen Rupp won the Olympic Trials marathon on a scorching hot day in Los Angeles, earning a spot on the U.S. Olympic team in Rio. But the marathon wasn't enough for Rupp. Tonight, he’ll race in the 10,000 final as well, trying to become the first American to compete in both events since Dan Browne did it in Athens in 2004.

In addition to the 10,000 final, there are prelims for the 400 and 800, as well as the men’s shot put final. The opening ceremony begins at 3:30 pm PT with the first race going off at 4:15 pm PT.
