Week two brings the top team in the country to Eugene to take on the Oregon Ducks — sort of.
Fresh off a loss to FCS Richmond, the Virginia Cavaliers have taken the No. 1 spot in CBS Sports’ Bottom 25.
1. Virginia (0-1): Safe to say the honeymoon period for Bronco Mendenhall at Virginia is already over. Because things aren't going to get any easier going on the road to face Oregon this week.
The Cavaliers are probably not actually the worst team in the country, although Fornelli says his rankings are based on a secret “mathematical formula of my creation.” Oklahoma landed at No. 25, Missouri was No. 20, and Pac-12 foes USC and Washington State came in at No. 5 and No. 4, respectively, following week 1 losses.
Mendenhall, formerly of BYU, clearly has a big rebuilding job on his hands.
At the same time, this is still a Power 5 team, so Oregon better come ready to play on Saturday. It’s never easy to beat Number One.
