True freshman Troy Brown will miss Friday’s game against Boise State at Matthew Knight Arena. This is a tough blow for the Ducks, as Brown collided with teammate MiKyle McIntosh in the closing seconds of Sunday’s loss to Oklahoma.
“I haven’t paid any attention to it,” said Herbert on Friday afternoon. “I’m good with any bowl we go to. I’m just thankful we’re going to a bowl.”
The Las Vegas product is averaging 11.7 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 2.1 APG and 1.0 SPG this season. Brown was amassing 27.1 minutes per contest, so the Ducks will have to adjust at the small forward spot. Abu Kigab should assume some of his minutes off the bench.
Brown was on the ground in agony on Sunday morning from Veterans Memorial Coliseum. After he and McIntosh apparently bumped head’s, Brown was forced from the game prematurely.
UPDATE: As of five minutes before tip on Friday, Brown was warming up with the team. He seemed in good spirits while wearing the Oregon warmups. Anytime you have a player dealing with a head issue, it’s best to wait that extra game instead of pushing them out there too soon.
Dana Altman will be shorthanded for a tough Boise State (7-1) team in Eugene on Friday night. The Ducks will be looking to extend their nation-best home win-streak to 47 games. Tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. PT from MKA. You can watch the game live on the Pac-12 Network.
