Marcus Arroyo To Join Oregon Staff As QB Coach and Co-OC

Report: Former Oklahoma State RB Coach Heading to Eugene

NCAA Football: Stanford at Oregon Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

Oregon will reportedly hire Marcus Arroyo to be the new QB coach and passing game coordinator. Arroyo served as the RB coach at Oklahoma State this last season and was considered to be an amazing recruiter. Before Mike Gundy added Arroyo to the staff he served as an offensive assistant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While in Tampa Bay he helped the offense produce two, 1,000 yard receivers for the first time in franchise history with Josh McCown and Mike Glennon at quarterback.

A common trait amongst all of Willie Taggart’s coaches has been their recruiting abilities and some Oklahoma State fans are well aware of what they will be missing out on:

From SB Nation’s Oklahoma State Blog “Cowboys Ride For Free”:

Arroyo has been killing it during his time here in Stillwater, recruiting several big time running backs as well as helping to rejuvenate the running game that had been struggling for the few years prior to his arrival.

Arroyo is from the west coast having played quarterback at San Jose State before coaching stops at Southern Mississippi and Wyoming. In 2011-2012 Arroyo served as passing game coordinator at Cal.

Willie Taggart has said he will be involved with coaching quarterbacks this upcoming season. Taggart played quarterback at Western Kentucky.

Oregon still has to hire a tight ends coach and a wide receivers coach after Reaves resignation following a DUI and Dougherty leaving for UCLA.
