Quick Glance

  • Oregon Ducks (32-5, 16-2 Pac-12) — UO topped Iona in the first round before edging Rhode Island in the second and most recently Michigan in the Sweet 16, 69-68. Against the upset-hungry Wolverines, Tyler Dorsey scored the go-ahead basket with 1:08 remaining to make it a 69-68 ballgame. “Mr. March” has now scored 20-plus points in a career-best six straight games… Thursday’s win gave the Ducks their record-setting 32nd victory of the season. UO is one of three teams to have won at least 30 games in the past two season, alongside Kansas and Villanova… The Ducks are also just one of five teams in the field to have won a game in the last five NCAA Tournaments, alongside Gonzaga, Kansas, North Carolina and Wichita State.
  • Kansas Jayhawks (31-4, 16-2 Big 12) —Kansas won its 13-straight, 17th Big 12 regular-season conference title before beating UC Davis, Michigan State and most recently Purdue in the NCAA Tournament. With Thursday’s win over Big 10 Champion Purdue, the Jayhawks captured their fourth straight Elite Eight appearance and their seventh appearance under head coach Bill Self… The Jayhawks are headed by Big 12 Player of the Year senior Frank Mason III, who’s averaging 20.9 points and 5.2 assists per game. Standout freshman Josh Jackson has also been crucial, averaging 16.5 points and 7.2 boards per game to go along with a team-leading 57 blocks.

"We have plenty of respect for them," UO junior Jordan Bell said, "but I think we can beat them. I think we match up better with them than we did Purdue. We've just got to keep our foot on the gas; like UCLA, they can make quick spurts, hit threes and make layups. If we get the lead, keep our foot on the gas. Game's close, same thing. In the end I have faith in my guys."
