Already ranked the #1 recruiting class in the Pac-12 and flirting with the top 10 nationally, the Oregon Ducks further padded their loaded crop of recruits as 4-Star WR Warren Thompson from Armwood High School in Seffner Florida committed this morning after narrowing his choice of schools down to a Final 3 of Oregon, North Carolina, and Florida State.
Head coach Willie Taggart’s connections to the sunshine state have again paid dividends as Thompson is the highest-rated commit in the class so far and may help launch the 2018 class into top 5 status.
The 6’3” 196 pound Thompson is rated as the nation’s no.55 player and no.9 wide receiver. He’s the latest in a string of talent from Armwood that includes Malcom Lamar, rated the no.3 defensive end in the country by Scout, and 3-star linebacker James Miller, both of whom Oregon has been pursuing. Darrian McNeal of Oregon’s 2017 class also hails from the talent-laden high school.
Having a direct connection to a school brimming with talent in Florida could end up paying major dividends for the Ducks, who until the signing of Taggart didn’t have much of a pipeline to recruits from the southernmost state while scouring the other top two recruiting pools of California and Texas.
