Oregon guard Payton Pritchard made quite the splash on campus during his freshman campaign, and folks are taking note of his talents.
Pritchard has been invited to the 2017 USA Basketball Men's U19 World Cup Team training camp, which will take place from June 18-25 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Kentucky head coach John Calipari will lead the squad of the nation’s best young stars. Team USA will be going for their third consecutive gold medal at this year’s FIBA U19 World Championships in Cairo, Egypt from July 1-9.
Playing on the global stage is nothing new to Pritchard. In 2015, he was a part of the U18 3x3 World Championship Team, and in 2016 was a member of the USA Junior National Select Team that won the 2016 Nike Hoop Summit.
Finalists for the team will be announced on June 20. The final 12-man roster is expected to be announced later this month on June 22. All finalists will remain in Colorado Springs to train twice a day through June 25, so even if Pritchard doesn't make the final cut, he can still get in a ton of quality offseason work.
