Last year, the Oregon Ducks wore everything from grey uniforms with a sweatshirt look to looking like actual ducks, and everything in between. This year, Oregon head coach Willie Taggart says that things will be a little simpler in the fashion department.
"We're going to be sharp," Taggart said to CSNNW. "But you won't see as many different combinations. We want to play football. Those uniforms are really nice when you have a really good football team."
Last year, while breaking out a new combo week in and week out, the Ducks would go on to finish 4-8, one of their worst seasons in program history. This year, the uniforms are the least of the concern.
For as flashy as his personality is, Taggart seems like a guy who doesn't want to waste his time with how good you look on the field. In fact, it’s even more embarrassing when the team that gets a new uniform combination can't even make it to a bowl game.
Lineback Troy Dye said that Taggart didn't give a reason why the uniform combos would be cut pack. Dye said that he assumed it was because of a loss of trust with Nike.
The less uniform combos, the better. Let’s just get back to basics, like winning football games.
