Joey Buckets is doing it all for the Pacers this summer

ORLANDO, Fla. — Joe Young led the Indiana Pacers to victory over the Miami Heat 86-83 on Monday afternoon from the NBA Summer League sponsored by Mountain Dew. The former Oregon star has helped guide his NBA team to a 3-0 start this July.

Joey Buckets tallied 17 points, six rebounds and six assists in the Indiana victory. Young is averaging 14 points per game over three games this summer.

The Pacers wanted to see Young playing in a “lead role” after the departure of their superstar Paul George this offseason. Young has not let anyone down after three days of competition.

He finished 5-for-10 from the floor, including 6-for-7 from the charity stripe. Young embarrassed more than one Heat defender with his offensive quicks on Monday.

If he continues to progress like this, there is no question he will find healthy minutes in Indiana. Young could carve out 20-30 minutes per game with George in Oklahoma City.

As for the other Duck on Monday, Dylan Ennis played three minutes for his Thunder team. Minutes are a struggle with a loaded, youthful roster.

Stanford alum Josh Huestis led the way for OKC with a game-high 26 points.

The Canadian recorded three points, one board and one dime while on the floor. His Thunder defeated the New York Knicks by 12 points, 99-87. Like the Pacers, OKC is also undefeated (2-0) this summer. Overall, the former Ducks are currently 5-0 in Orlando’s Pro Summer League.

Ennis will play for Oklahoma City in Orlando from July 1-6. Then, he will fly to Las Vegas to join the Golden State Warriors from July 7-17. Double your pleasure.

We will have continual coverage from the NBA Summer League throughout July.
