CAIRO, Egypt — Team USA and Payton Pritchard defeated Germany 81-59 in the quarterfinals of the U19 FIBA World Cup on Friday. Prior to their game, Abu Kigab led his Canadian teammates past France 73-67. Team USA will now face Team Canada on Saturday in the semifinal round.
Oregon’s incoming freshman has been on a torrid stretch during this tournament. He followed up his 17-point, 16-rebound performance with another masterpiece on Friday in the quarterfinals.
Kigab dropped 17 points, 15 boards and six dimes for Canada. He literally carried the team to their six-point victory and a Final Four appearance. Nobody can deny the evolution of his game this summer. Duck head coach Dana Altman can’t be mad with his development.
