ATQ’s Week Thirteen Predictions

Rivalry Week!

Last week, the ATQ community was 71% right in the pick ems and 62% right against the spread. Let’s give it another go, shall we? Because Thanksgiving dinners don’t pay for themselves!

OREGON @ OREGON STATE

TIME/CHANNEL: Friday, 1 PM, FS1

RECORDS: OREGON (7-4, 4-4) / OREGON STATE (2-9, 1-7)

LAST WEEK: Outside of a successful onside kick, a blocked field goal, and a 75-yard touchdown drive in the second quarter, there wasn’t much to get excited about for Beavs fans in their doomed contest against the huskies. Oregon, on the other hand, at times looked Beaver-esque in their 31-29 win against ASU.

Is it safe to assume we’ll see the good version of the Ducks despite technically being on the road? Or will the Beavers once again find a way to beat Justin Herbert at Reser Stadium?

#18 WASHINGTON @ #8 WASHINGTON STATE

TIME/CHANNEL: Friday, 5:30 PM, FOX

RECORDS: WASHINGTON (8-3, 6-2) / WASHINGTON STATE (10-1, 7-1)

LAST WEEK: The Cougars are having one of their best seasons in program history; they’ve got a scrappy defense that punches above its weight, a potential Heisman candidate in Gardner Minshew, and get to play the Apple Cup in front of a raucous crowd in Pullman.

The Cougs are slight favorites, meaning Washington will probably win this thing by 30. Chris Petersen seems to have figured out the air raid and the huskies’ secondary will provide the biggest challenge of the season for the Coug receivers.

Will the huskies spoil Wazzu’s season? Or is Gardner Minshew the missing ingredient needed to finally deliver a victory in the Apple Cup?

STANFORD @ UCLA

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 12 PM, PAC-12 NETWORK

RECORDS: STANFORD (6-4, 4-3) / UCLA (3-8, 3-5)

LAST WEEK: Due to the terrible fires in California, Stanford will be coming into this contest off of an unexpected bye week. UCLA, on the other hand, is coming off of their biggest win of the season, a 34-27 victory over the Trojans.

Will David Shaw lull Chip Kelly to sleep? Or will Chip Kelly easily outmaneuver David Shaw’s playbook?

ARIZONA STATE @ ARIZONA

ASU v Arizona Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 12:30 PM, FS1

RECORDS: ARIZONA STATE (6-5, 4-4) / ARIZONA (5-6, 4-4)

LAST WEEK: This year’s Territorial Cup should be a good one, as the Wildcats are fighting for bowl eligibility and the Sun Devils would love to rob them of the opportunity. ASU lost to the Ducks in Eugene, but that loss was nothing compared to the NSFW beatdown of the Wildcats that the Cougs pulled off.

Will N’Keal Harry and Manny Wilkins deliver one last victory over their rival? Or will Khalil Tate lead his team to a bowl game?

COLORADO @ CALIFORNIA

California v Colorado Photo by Dustin Bradford/Getty Images

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 4 PM, PAC-12 NETWORK

RECORDS: COLORADO (5-6, 2-6) / CALIFORNIA (6-4, 3-4)

LAST WEEK: California has fully transitioned from their identity as a team with an offense but no defense to a team with a defense but no offense. Still, Justin Wilcox’s team is trending upward after earning their first bowl game in his tenure.

And for Colorado, they have two options; take the loss after losing their head coach or rally as a team and fight their way to postgame play. Though they may have to do so without starting quarterback Steven Montez.

Will the Buffs rally for the win? Or will the Golden Bears continue their defensive domination?

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 5 PM, ABC

BYU @ #19 UTAH

Utah v BYU Photo by Gene Sweeney Jr/Getty Images

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 7 PM, FS1

RECORDS: BYU (6-5) / UTAH (8-3, 6-3)

LAST WEEK: The Holy War is surprisingly one of the most vulgar and cutthroat rivalries out there. The Utes have looked dominant in their last couple of weeks, despite their use of a backup QB and running back. BYU has looked perfectly mediocre, which may be good enough to beat the PAC-12 South champion.

Will the Utes prove too much for the Mormons? Or will BYU fight their way to victory?
