ATQ Picks the Champions!

Washington v Utah Photo by Gene Sweeney Jr/Getty Images

Last week, the ATQ community was 71% right in the pick ems (same as last week!) but only 38% right against the spread. Let’s give it another go, shall we? Only this time, it’s Championship Week!

But first, let’s talk about this non-championship game...

STANFORD @ CALIFORNIA

California v Stanford Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 12 PM, PAC-12 NETWORK

RECORDS: STANFORD (7-4, 5-3) / CALIFORNIA (7-4, 4-4)

Big Game is here. It certainly isn’t the biggest game on Saturday, and there’s no Championship in sight for either of these teams, who are also both already bowl eligible, tied at 7-4. There’s seemingly very little on the line, but for Justin Wilcox and the Golden Bears this is an opportunity to snap an eight-year losing streak to the Cardinal in front of a home crowd.

Will California end their already successful season by defeating a bitter rival? Or will David Shaw find a way to make this another boring Stanford win?

#17 UTAH vs #11 WASHINGTON

Washington v Utah Photo by Gene Sweeney Jr/Getty Images

TIME/CHANNEL: Friday, 5 PM, FOX

RECORDS: UTAH (9-3, 6-3) / WASHINGTON (9-3, 7-2)

This Friday, every Duck fan will be rooting for the Utah Utes as they attempt to win their first ever PAC-12 Championship against the Washington Huskies In Levi’s Stadium. The Utes will need Jason Shelley and Armand Shyne, former backups before major injuries to Tyler Huntley and Zack Moss, to perform better than the injured starters did when Utah lost to Washington 21-7 earlier in the year at home.

WIll Shyne and Shelley forever be remembered as titans of Utah football? Or will we be forced to watch Browning celebrate awkwardly like he did when he thought he beat Oregon this year?

#14 TEXAS vs #5 OKLAHOMA

Oklahoma v Texas Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 9 AM, ABC

RECORDS: TEXAS (9-3, 7-2) / OKLAHOMA (11-1, 8-1)

Texas vs Oklahoma not in Dallas? This year we get a double dose of the Red River Showdown. WIll the Longhorns win two in the same year? Or will we see Oklahoma make it back to the Playoffs?

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 1 PM, CBS

RECORDS: ALABAMA (12-0, 8-0) / GEORGIA (11-1, 7-1)

Does Georgia, or any team for that matter, have what it takes to beat what could be the best Alabama team of all time? Or is Tua the shiny, golden god he appears to be?

#2 CLEMSON vs PITTSBURGH

Pittsburgh v Clemson Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 5 PM, ABC

RECORDS: CLEMSON (12-0, 8-0) / PITTSBURGH (7-5, 6-2)

Clemson has only one more obstacle in its path before returning to the Playoffs, but it’s a pesky one. The Pittsburgh Panthers have never lost to the Clemson Tigers, though they’ve only played twice before, but is this run-first team equipped to handle this ferocious Tiger defensive line? Does a loss even prevent the Tiger’s from making the Playoffs?
