USD is one of the more underrated teams on the West Coast and are riding a three-game winning streak. The Toreros have a solid backcourt of Olin Carter III and Isaiah Wright. Their trio of stars (Carter, Wright, Pineiro) are all seniors and have a lot of experience playing with each other.
Wins - Weber State, @ UC Davis, San Diego Christian, Colorado, Jackson State, Long Beach State, @ San Diego State, CSU Northridge
Losses - @ Washington, @ Ole Miss
KenPom Ranking - #87
Game Time:
San Diego (8-2) @ Oregon (5-3) 10:00 PM ET, PAC-12 Network on Wednesday, December 12th
Key Numbers:
- 77.3 Points Per Game
- 36.4 Rebounds Per Game
- 16.3 Assists Per Game
- 5.1 Steals Per Game
- 3.1 Blocks Per Game
- 64.7 Points Allowed Per Game
- 47.0 Field Goal Percentage
Player to Watch For:
Isaiah Pineiro, Senior - 21.2 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.5 SPG, .528% FG
Isaiah has improved dramatically each season at San Diego and his senior season will be a special one. He is a very consistent shooter from all over the floor.
Score Prediction: 81-77, Ducks over Toreros
Although the Toreros have some experience against Pac-12 schools already, I see the Toreros falling to the Ducks in what should be a fast-paced matchup but only by a couple buckets.
The first of two against the Broncos for the Ducks. Oregon will travel to Boise, Idaho at the end of December. Why the Ducks are playing these guys twice in the preseason, I don’t know.
Wins - Jackson State, St. Bonaventure, Central Washington
Losses - Idaho State, Creighton, Illinois State, @ Drake, @ Grand Canyon
KenPom Ranking - #134
Game Time:
Boise State (3-5) @ Oregon (5-3) 9:00 PM ET, PAC-12 Network on Saturday, December 15th
Key Numbers:
- 73.4 Points Per Game
- 34.3 Rebounds Per Game
- 11.6 Assists Per Game
- 5.8 Steals Per Game
- 3.0 Blocks Per Game
- 69.8 Points Allowed Per Game
- 48.4 Field Goal Percentage
Player to Watch For:
Roderick Williams, Freshman - 16.4 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 1.9 SPG
An athletic slasher who stands 6’7 and loves to get to the free throw line. He has a lot of upside for his position and looks to be a good replacement for Chandler Hutchison who now plays for the Chicago Bulls.
Score Prediction: 89-71, Ducks over Broncos
This will be the fourth consecutive year these teams have met. Boise State has won two of the last three contests. The Broncos don’t have a win on the road yet this season and that looks to continue. When the Ducks play the Broncos at their place, that will be a different story.
