The Oregon Women’s Basketball team (11-1) defeated the UC Irvine Anteaters (9-2), and Sabrina Ionescu earned her 14th career triple-double.
It’s been a challenging week for our Ducks, but ultimately a satisfying one, as they played three games in four days and earned three victories.
An 82-74 win over No. 4 Mississippi State put the Ducks back in the elite conversation after suffering an early loss to Michigan State, then Ionescu followed up a great team performance with a great individual performance against Air Force by earning an NCAA record 13th career triple-double. Now, against UC Irvine, the Ducks have another lopsided victory, though it had its rough patches.
Oregon started the game with a Satou Sabally jumper and finished the opening quarter with a healthy 28 points, but the Anteaters went on a 10-2 run with 1:36 left in the first quarter to cut the lead to two. Luckily, the Ducks responded by building an 11-point lead at the half and then finished the game by outscoring the Anteaters 64-29 in the second half.

Obviously, Ionescu had yet another notable game, but she wasn’t the only one. Satou Sabally led all scorers with her 27 points and Ruthy Hebard scored 23 while also grabbing 15 rebounds.
As a team, the Ducks shot well from long range (47.8%), as well as everywhere else on the court (64% Field Goal percentage). Oregon also out-rebounded UC Irvine 54-30, and had a respectable assist-to-turnover ratio of 34-to-11.
Coach Graves was serving part of his two-game suspension due to minor NCAA infractions and therefore wasn’t able to coach the game, resulting in associate head coach Mark Campbell being promoted to interim head coach.
