Three Ducks invited to NFL Combine

NCAA Football: Arizona at Oregon Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL season just came to an end on Sunday, but before you know it, we’ll be getting ready for the 2018 season. One of the first steps towards the new season is the 2018 NFL Combine, which will be held from March 2-5 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Three Ducks, running back Royce Freeman, offensive lineman Tyrell Crosby and long snapper Tanner Crew have all received invitations to this year’s combine.

The guy most fans will have their eye on is of course, Royce Freeman. The star running back finished his career with the most rushing yards (5,621) and rushing touchdowns (60) in Pac-12 history. Those 5,621 rushing yards rank him sixth all-time in all of college football. From the projections I’ve seen, he should get picked up somewhere in the middle rounds.

Offensive lineman Tyrell Crosby also has a good chance to hear his name called at the NFL draft. NFL.com has Crosby going to the Denver Broncos with the 71st overall pick in the third round. Crosby had an impressive year in 2017, starting all 13 games without allowing a single quarterback sack. In fact, he didn’t give up a sack his entire junior year, either. Talk about reliability.

The most interesting invite is the one to long snapper Tanner Carew, mostly because Carew is the only long snapper in the nation to get an invite. He was a U.S. Army All-American in high school and started 52 games in his career with the Ducks.

You can catch the entire NFL Combine on NFL Network over the four day period. Someone tap me on the shoulder when it’s time for Rich Eisen’s 40-yard dash.
