With the NBA regular season wrapping up on Wednesday night, there was a lot of buzz surrounding the fact that LeBron James finally played in all 82 games for the first time in his career.
Meanwhile, Memphis Grizzlies rookie Dillon Brooks just did that in his first season. On Wednesday night, Brooks dropped a career-high 36 points with seven rebounds in a 137-123 loss to Oklahoma City.
Brooks finishes the year averaging 10.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, playing over 28 minutes per game.
Among rookies in the NBA, Brooks ranked 10th in scoring and eighth in minutes per game.
The Grizzlies had a rough season, finishing 29th out of 30th in the NBA with a record of 22-60. Only the Phoenix Suns had a worse record at 21-61, so if there’s a silver lining, Brooks will probably have a very talented teammate next year from the lottery.
Overall, Brooks looked great in his first season and it’ll be exciting to see how he builds on it next year.
