When current Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal was named recruiter of the year by Rivals in 2015, the question whether or not he would be able to earn such a title without an elite and storied program like Alabama behind him remained.
At this point, at least, it appears that question has an emphatic answer.
Continuing an unprecedented hot streak in recruiting and maintaining his status as an offensive line guru, Cristobal and Oregon secured the commitment of Malesala Aumavae-Laulu, the nation’s No.1 junior college prospect. Aumavae-Laulu, an absolute monster at 6’7” 345 pounds, is currently an offensive lineman at Navarro College in Corsicana Texas, where he will be a sophomore this fall. He held offers from Alabama, Florida, USC, Nebraska, Florida State, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M, and a plethora of others.
Oregon now has a Conference-high 13 commitments in its heralded 2019 class, and Aumavae-Laulu marks the 3rd top 60 prospect in that group.
