Witness The Fitness, Week 3

Olympics: Track and Field-Evening Session John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The third week is upon us!

WTF Update

I put together a chart. Rather than recording pounds or anything specific, it just tracks whether you’ve checked in on a given week and made some kind of progress – idea being to give some accountability & motivation.

This is still in the experimental phase, so if you’ve got a better idea to track this stuff feel free to share.

Click to embiggen.

I’ll think up an extremely sought-after prize to be awarded the ATQers who rack up the most participation at the end of 14 weeks.

If anyone else wants to jump on board, post in the comments.

On the flipside - can’t take the heat & want to drop outta the kitchen? Just let me know and we’ll strike your name from the official record.

Inspiration from Coach Feld

One of the more visible faces of the new Ducks regime is strength & conditioning coach Aaron Feld.

19th century moustache nonwithstanding, he seems to Get It – a great communicator with a gift for motivation. As a coach, all the knowledge in the world doesn’t mean squat unless you can convey it in terms your players understand, and get them excited about the process. If you’ve seen any of his video clips, you’ve probably noticed the sense of comraderie & culture he’s been building up at Hatfield-Dowlin & on the practice field - mission accomplished so far.

He walks the walk too:

Outside his larger-than-life persona, Feld comes across as a pretty astute guy. Back in May, AJ McCord of Portland’s KOIN 6 news filmed a workout walkthru video with him – puff piece and all, but gives a sense of his teaching style. Worth a watch:

I’ll leave you with some words of wisdom from Coach himself:

SO LET’S HIT THE GYM, TRAIL, POOL, ROAD, YOGA MAT, OR OTHER PERSONAL FITNESS ENVIRONMENT OF CHOICE NOT ALREADY LISTED!!! GO GET IT.

Also check in below, let’s hear what you’ve been up to.
