The Lombardi Award is given to one extraordinary FBS player each year, regardless of position, and this year’s winner is none other than our very own Ugo Amadi!

Congrats, @UAmadi7_ on winning the 2018 Lombardi Award for college player of the year! #GoDucks pic.twitter.com/erenozQOht
The award searches for the player who best exemplifies “performance and leadership honed by character and resiliency.” Amadi beat out Oklahoma’s Kyle Murray, Clemson’s Christian Wilkins and others for the award.
In his four years as a Duck, Amadi saw the end of the Helfrich era, the year of Taggart, and the beginning of Cristobal’s reign. He began as a cornerback but will be remembered as a safety, a position he switched over to his junior season with great success.
His senior year, Amadi started all 13 games and tallied four interceptions, two pick-sixes, a touchdown on a punt return and his first bowl game victory. He was also a candidate for the Jim Thorpe award.
This is a huge honor for Amadi and the University of Oregon!
CONGRATS, UGOCHUKWU!!!!
Let’s watch some vintage 2017 Amadi to celebrate!
