The No. 5 Oregon Ducks (13-1, 2-0) scored at will against the Washington State Cougars (6-8, 1-2) in front of six thousand fans at Matthew Knight Arena. Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard dominated, Ionescu by earning her 5th triple-double of the season (15th of her career) and Hebard by scoring a career high 34 points.
The Ducks never trailed as they raced their way to a second conference victory. Hebard snatched nine rebounds and scored 34 despite shooting poorly from the free throw line, 2-of-10. Satou Sabally scored 25 points by using her speed and size to overwhelm the Cougs and Ionescu tallied 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.
After playing a surprisingly competitive game against Washington a couple days prior, Oregon had a much better showing defensively against Washington State. The Ducks held the Cougs to 38.6% from the floor and 23.8% from three-point range. No Wazzu player scored more than 14 points and only two scored in double digits.
Oregon forced 18 turnovers, resulting in 21 points, and out-rebounded Washington State 45 to 26. One thing that the Ducks should look to improve on is their free throw shooting; Oregon finished the night 10 of 21, and Hebard especially will need to improve this part of her game since she is sure to draw a lot of contact.
Ionescu and the squad are back on the road next week as they take on USC and UCLA.
