Cristobal Predictions: Week Seven

Stay away, PAC-12 Chaos!

We all know that ATQ readers are the most knowledgeable fans on the internet.

Now it’s time to prove it! Each week we’ll put up a series of PAC-12 polls with the goal of predicting that week’s PACtion.

Last week, ATQ chose only one out of the four PAC-12 games correctly, which is really bad, and against the spread we were 2 of 4. An interesting note is that the Oregon-Cal spread poll was decided by one vote.

THIS WEEK’S RESIDENT GENIUS IS:

ElectricLizard

“Oregon wins 21-3. Herbert 2 Tds, 0 ints, 271 yards passing. Oregon gets 415 yards of offense.”

COLORADO @ #13 OREGON

TIME/CHANNEL: Friday, 7:00 PM, FS1

SEASON RECORD: UC (3-2, 1-1) / UO (4-1, 2-0)

HISTORICAL RECORD: The Ducks and Buffs have played each other 21 times since 1949. Oregon currently holds a 12-9 lead in the series, but Colorado won the last one in 2016, ruining the debut of Oregon’s best ever uniforms.

NOTES: Colorado has yet to play a decent defense and are suffering a slew of injuries both on offense and on their already struggling defense. Steven Montez has been inconsistent despite receiving more time in the pocket and outside of a few long passes this offense is not suited to carry this team. That being said, it’s a Friday night PAC-12 game, so chaos will reign.

WASHINGTON STATE @ #18 ARIZONA STATE

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 12:30 PM, PAC12N

SEASON RECORD: WSU (3-2, 0-2) / ASU (4-1, 1-1)

HISTORICAL RECORD: Out of the 44 times the Cougars and Sun Devils have played each other, ASU has won 27 of them, WSU 15 of them and then there were two ties, one in 1962 and one in 1986.

NOTES: Jayden Daniels has had an impressive freshman year. His porous o-line hasn’t helped him out much, but credit should be given to the fightin’ Herms for what they have accomplished so far. Meanwhile, Washington State has been in a free fall ever since their ridiculous loss to UCLA. Will they be able to handle the Sun Devils on the road now that they’ve replaced their DC with two interims? We’ll find out.

USC @ #9 NOTRE DAME

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 4:30 PM, NBC

SEASON RECORD: USC (3-2, 2-1) / ND (4-1)

HISTORICAL RECORD: This historic rivalry started in 1926 with a 13-12 Irish victory. Since then, Notre Dame has built a 46-36-5 lead over USC.

NOTES: This could be coach Clay Helton’s last shot at saving his job.

#15 UTAH @ OREGON STATE

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 5:00 PM, PAC12N

SEASON RECORD: UU (4-1, 1-1) / OSU (2-3, 1-1)

HISTORICAL RECORD: The Beavs and Utes are currently neck and neck; out of the 21 times these two have played, Oregon State has won 11 of them while Utah has been victorious in nine. They also played to a 20-20 tie in 1948 in Corvallis.

NOTES: Utah is coming off a bye and still has the playoffs in sight, but to do that they’ll need to not only win their next eight games but do so in decisive fashion. The Beavers have finally built some momentum after defeating the Bruins, but the Utes are a far superior team.

wASHINGTON @ ARIZONA

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 8:00 PM, PAC12N

SEASON RECORD: Uw (4-2, 1-2) / UA (4-1, 2-0)

HISTORICAL RECORD: washington currently holds a 21-11-1 record over Arizona, though the dirty dogs are 1 of 5 in Tucson since 2007. Also, Ted Bundy went to Uw.

NOTES: This game became much more exciting after Stanford’s awesome upset of the huskies. It appeared the Wildcats were heading for a disaster of a season after a week zero loss to Hawaii, but heading into week seven they are at the top of the PAC-12 South. Knock on wood - a loss to the Wildcats would drastically increase the chances of Oregon winning the North - knock on wood.
