Men’s basketball won their season opener, 71-57 over Fresno State, last night behind the strength of Payton Pritchard, who had 24 points along with 7 points and 7 assists. None of the Ducks freshman scored and the team shot 1-13 from 3 but still defeated a solid team.
Three women’s basketball players made the preseason watch list for the Wooden Award. Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally, and Ruthy Hebard are all among 30 players in consideration for the best player in college this year. Ionescu won the award last year.
Women’s golf had a rough second round of play, with an 11 over combined round to fall from 3rd to 6th overall as a team. Senior Amy Matsuoka shot a 10 over to fall from a tie for the individual lead to 14th place.
