Cristobal Predictions: Week Eleven

A stress-free week of football!

We all know that ATQ readers are the most knowledgeable fans on the internet.

Now it’s time to prove it! Each week we’ll put up a series of PAC-12 polls with the goal of predicting that week’s PACtion.

Last week, ATQers were a perfect 4 of 4 against the spread and 3.5 out of 4 in our outright picks. How were we half right in a pick, you may ask, that’s because there was a virtual tie in the poll covering the Oregon State-Arizona game (86 votes apiece). I guess we really didn’t want to admit the Beavers are kind of alright.

THIS WEEK’S RESIDENT GENIUS IS:

“Ducks 53 - USuCk 27. Oregon Wins! Herbert with 237 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. Helton gets fired during halftime and Urban Meyer is announced as the new head coach immediately after the game. He brings the trojans back to national dominance until 2023 when a mysterious and conveniently timed “health issue” causes him to retire unexpectedly.”

wASHINGTON @ OREGON STATE

TIME/CHANNEL: Friday, 7:30 PM, FS1

SEASON RECORD: Uw (5-4, 2-4) / OSU (4-4, 3-2) legit offe

HISTORICAL RECORD: Unfortunately, the Huskies have a 65-34-4 series lead over the Beavers, and have won the last seven of these matchups.

NOTES: How bad is washington this year and how good is Oregon State? Losses to Utah and Oregon aren’t bad at all, but Stanford and Cal also managed to beat the Huskies. Meanwhile, the Beavers aren’t turning over the ball and have a legit offense. Can Oregon State keep washington winless against the PAC-12 North? Let’s hope so.

STANFORD @ COLORADO

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 12:00 PM, PAC12N

SEASON RECORD: STAN (4-4, 3-3) / CU (3-6, 1-5)

HISTORICAL RECORD: The Buffs and Cardinal have only played ten games against each other, and Stanford has won six of them.

NOTES: If Mel Tucker wants to make it to a bowl game in his first season as a Buff he needs to win out , but Costello is back and Stanford looks much better than earlier in the season.

USC @ ARIZONA STATE

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 12:30 PM, ABC

SEASON RECORD: USC (5-4, 4-2) / ASU (5-3, 2-3)

HISTORICAL RECORD: The Sun Devils and Trojans first played in 1978. ASU won that game 20 to 7, but since then USC has built a 21-13 series lead.

NOTES: Clay Helton is most likely a dead-man walking, the real question is whether his team has already buried him. Jayden Daniels has been fantastic in his first year and the Sun Devils would love to insure a bowl game this Saturday. We’ll find out if talent alone can continue to spot USC wins in the PAC-12 South.

WASHINGTON STATE @ CALIFORNIA

TIME/CHANNEL: Saturday, 4:00 PM, PAC12N

SEASON RECORD: WSU (4-4, 1-4) / UC (4-4, 1-4)

HISTORICAL RECORD: Washington State may be the clear favorite this time around, but historically Cal has been the victor in this series and holds a 47-28-5 record over the Cougars.

NOTES: Two 4-4 teams battle it out for worst team in the PAC-12 North. Both started strong in the season but have plummeted once they reached conference play. Garbers was apparently the key to this Cal offense and he’s out for the season, meaning if the Golden Bears have a chance against a surging Wazzu passing attack they’ll need to be near perfect on defense.
