LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA
DUCKS 81 - BEACH 45
The #3 Oregon Ducks (8-1) defeated Long Beach State (3-7) by a score of 81 to 45. Kobe Bryant and his daughter were in attendance as Sabrina Ionescu scored a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds.
The Ducks outscored the Beach by a score of 31 to 12 in the first quarter thanks in large part due to the outstanding play of superstar Sabrina Ionescu. The Triple-Double Queen was 6-of-7 from the floor and hit all three of her triples in the first ten minutes, leading a Duck attack that shot 86.6% from the floor and 83.3% from long range in the opening quarter.
Freshman Jaz Shelley also had a career game by scoring a season-high 17 point off the bench. She closed out the first quarter with a couple of three-pointers and finished the game 5-of-8 from downtown. The Ducks went on a 20-2 run going into the second quarter, punctuated by a deep Ionescu three in front of Kobe Bryant,
The Ducks hot shooting cooled down in the second quarter, allowing the Beach to go on an 11-2 run to close out the half after putting together an 11-0 run themselves. Oregon went to the locker rooms with a 46 to 26 lead and were able to maintain and build upon their 20-point lead for the rest of the contest.

The Ducks weren’t able to regenerate the same offensive success of the first quarter, but they were able to hold LBSU to just nine points in the third. Minyon Moore opened up the scoring with a three and Shelley continued to find success from long range, draining her fourth triple of the game to give Oregon a 61-33 lead with 2:58 left before the fourth.
Out of all the Oregon starters, Ionescu was the only player to see the court in the fourth quarter. The Duck bench recorded some valuable minutes against the outmatched home team as in addition to Shelley’s big night, Holly Winterburn and Taylor Chavez scored nine points apiece and Giomi, Cochrane and Yaeger also put in a full quarter.
Ionescu was rewarded for playing late by tallying a season-high for points and her 42nd career double-double. She also moved into the Oregon all-time top 10 in steals (171) and rebounds (831). The UC Riverside Highlanders (3-7, 1-5 Away) and the Kansas State Wildcats (5-4, 1-1 Away) visit Eugene to take on the Ducks to wrap up the non-conference season.
