After a long and winding recruitment that heavily featured defending national champion Clemson, five star linebacker Justin Flowe has chosen to sign with the Ducks.

Flowe is a 6’2 225 inside linebacker from Upland HS in Upland, CA.

247 Sports has him ranked as the top ranked inside linebacker, the top ranked prospect in the state of California, and fourth overall recruit in the nation. 247 also ranks him as the 40th overall recruit in their history. For perspective, last year’s top overall signee and Oregon EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux ranks as the 28th overall in that metric.

Flowe is the second highest signee in Oregon’s history, with a composite score of 0.9981. He displaced one of the best Ducks defensive linemen Haloti Ngata for second. Thibodeaux’s 0.9987 just barely edges out Flowe’s 0.9981.

Greg Biggins of 247 Sports has compared him to former Alabama standout Reuben Foster.

More from Mr. Biggins:

“Flowe has a prototype inside linebacker frame at a rock-solid 6-2, 225 pounds. He has a powerful lower body, and plays with maniacal effort and passion for the game. He has good straight-line speed and has worked hard to improve his lateral mobility and ability to drop and cover. He’s a huge hitter and one of the most physical football players to come out of California in years. He’s relentless in how he plays, refuses to stay blocked and does a great job in pursuit. He’s tremendous getting in the backfield and making plays. Has rare timing and instincts. He can take on a block, disengage and make a play as well as run down plays going away from him. His motor and the edge he plays with really separates him from other linebackers. He has the ability to elevate everyone around him by how hard he plays and the emotion he brings to the field. His work ethic and leadership is unmatched as well. He projects as a impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future high-round NFL draft pick.”

He officially visited the Ducks during the Civil War weekend.

247 Sports lists his primary recruiter as Cornerbacks coach Donte Williams and his secondary recruiter as Outside Linebackers coach Ken Wilson.

This is the second consecutive year that Oregon has signed the state of California’s top recruit.

Oregon has the 2nd ranked class in the Pac-12 and the 15th ranked class nationally.
