A Ruthy Hebard layup kicked off the scoring for the Ducks as the senior helped her team get off to a hot start by tallying six points, one rebound, one steal and a block in the first quarter. Oregon’s 1-2-2 zone defense wreaked havoc on South Dakota State as the length of the Ducks gave the visiting team only a handful of second chances in the paint.
Oregon went on a 13-3 run before the official timeout at the 4:57 mark in the first quarter. A Lindsey Theuninck layup broke the scoring streak, but the Jackrabbits were only able to score six more points in the quarter and the Ducks built a 23-9 lead going into the second.
In the second quarter, Sabrina Ionescu hit her 284th career triple, giving her the all-time UO record for made three-pointers ahead of former teammate Lexi Bando. Erin Boley also made some noise from downtown by leading the Ducks with 12 points in the first half off four triples. Freshman Holly Winterburn contributed off the bench with a pair of three-pointers and Lydia Giomi continued to improve on her moves in the paint, finishing the half with six points, a rebound and a steal.

Oregon raced out to a 31-point lead by the time they reached the TV timeout in the third quarter. At the 5:36 mark, Ionescu broke another record when she hit another three-pointer, notching her 109th double-figure scoring game for another all-time UO record. The Ducks went up by 38 points when Winterburn hit her fourth shot from three-point land, but the Jackrabbits were able to respond with a quick run of five points before Jaz Shelley was able to score a bucket right before the end of the third.
The Ducks outscored them in each frame and hit 14 of 24 three-pointers while shooting 64.2% against the Jackrabbits.
