Former Oregon receiver Keanon Lowe and current head football coach for Parkrose High School (Portland, OR) prevented a school shooting from happening on their campus.
According to the Oregonian. He subdued the shooter in the hallway before the individual could have caused casualties.
Lowe is rightfully being called a hero for stopping the incident before it could have escalated further into yet another unfortunate tragedy in this nation’s school systems.
Several former Duck teammates have spoken out on social media praising Lowe for his heroism.
Here are a few examples:
One day during a film session, @coach_frost told us you had to already have determined what you would do if facing a life saving situation or else it would be too late in the moment. Speechless. https://t.co/bq6J1X8rOy— Eric Dungy (@edee9teen) May 17, 2019
Keanon Lowe is a national treasurehttps://t.co/M26YiVHZwM— Justin Hollins (@justinhollins_) May 17, 2019
As the head football coach, he has led Parkrose to a 5-5 record last season after a winless 2017. He also coaches the track team at the school.
I will not speak to the politicization of such events but there must be a solution to these type of crimes and it needs to be found quickly.
Great job, Mr. Lowe!! A Man of Oregon forever!
