Speaking with Oregon Guard, Anthony Mathis

Mathis is a graduate transfer from New Mexico

NCAA Basketball: New Mexico at UNLV Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The 6’ 3”, 180-pound guard is going back home for his final season of NCAA eligibility. Anthony Mathis is an Oregon native who was named 6A Second Team All-State in his senior year at West Linn High School. He will be reunited with his high school teammate, Payton Pritchard, in the backcourt at Oregon. The duo won three straight 6A state basketball titles together from 2013-2015.

At New Mexico, Mathis was the leading scorer for the Lobos with 14.4 PPG to go along with 2.2 RPG and 2.1 APG last season. He connected on 41.6% of his three-point attempts which also was the highest on the team. Anthony was named to the All-Mountain West Third Team.

Anthony has had a busy week of summer workouts back at the Eugene campus but, thankfully, found some time to talk with me about the upcoming season for the Ducks. Check out the audio of the entire interview in the attachment below.
