Another day, another watch list for QB Justin Herbert. He was named to the Peyton Manning Award watch list, which is given out by the Sugar Bowl at the end of the bowl season.
From their website, it states:
“The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ bowl performances in its balloting.”
You can find the rest of the watch list nominees here
In addition to Herbert, fellow Pac-12 QBs K.J. Costello (Stanford), Steven Montez (Colorado), and Khalil Tate (Arizona) made the list.
The list includes a veritable who's who of college quarterbacks such as Trevor Lawrence, Tua Tagoviloa, Jake Fromm, and Sam Ehlinger. Can Herbert beat them all and win the award?
The 2018 winner was current Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray while the 2017 winner was his predecessor Baker Mayfield.
Marcus Mariota is the only Oregon QB to win the award in 2014.
