Let's roll the highlights from today's win. #GoDucks pic.twitter.com/qTOdgjCZFD
1ST HALF - The Ducks could do no wrong in the opening quarter of the game. The ball seemingly stayed on Oregon’s side of the court for the first ten minutes as the home team snatched 14 rebounds (seven offensive and seven defensive) and the Utes had no answer for Hebard’s presence in the paint. The Ducks went on a 21-3 run that nearly extended into the second quarter if not for a pair of made free throws by Utah’s Niyah Becker.
Oregon’s offense slowed down a bit in the second quarter as a handful of penalties took them out of their rhythm and Utah found their defensive footing. The Ducks outrebounded the Utes 22 to 14 and forced 10 turnovers. The home team also hit 53 percent of their shots from the field while limiting the visitors to just 29.6%.
2ND HALF - Sabrina Ionescu scored the first four points of the second half, and after Andrea Torres hit a layup at the 8:13 mark, the Ducks responded with an 11-0 run that gave them a 60-26 lead. Oregon’s bench saw an increase in action during the fourth, but Ionescu, Boley and Sabally remained on the court for a handful of minutes in an effort to build cohesion. The Ducks built a 41-point lead, their largest of the night, when Boley hit a jumper with 5:45 left in the game and coasted to a 37-point conference win at home.
The Ducks will take on the Arizona State Sun Devils in Tempe this Friday at 5PM.
