The opening salvos of NFL Free Agency have been fired when the legal tampering period opened this afternoon (seriously Houston, what is you doing?)

Armstead has been a key cog for the Super Bowl runners up 49ers for several years now. He produced a stat line of 54 tackles, ten sacks, 18 quarterback hits, and two passes defensed in 2019. He played out his fifth year option in 2019 worth a little over $9 million.
He’s a member of one of the best defensive lines in the NFL that features the likes of rising sophomore Nick Bosa, star Dee Ford, and another former Duck DeForest Buckner.
In 62 career games, he has started 43 and produced 19 sacks, 152 tackles, and 47 QB hits.
His new deal would have him getting $17 million annually, which is nearly the same as the franchise tag would’ve gotten him ($17.8 million). The new deal would place him 27th overall in highest total contract and sixth highest paid defensive end, just $500,000 behind teammate Dee Ford.
Of course, the total money isn’t the biggest factor, the guaranteed money is.
Congrats Arik on a well deserved second contract!
