First of all, no, he is not related to legendary Duck D-lineman Deforest Buckner. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s celebrate the commitment of another Arizona recruit.
Brandon Buckner is a 3-Star athlete and outside linebacker. At 6-foot-1, 234 pounds, the edge rusher out of Chandler Arizona is the No. 11 prospect out of Arizona and the nation’s No. 80 outside linebacker. The son of legendary Clemson Tiger Brentson Buckner, Brandon was sought after by a handful of PAC-12 schools, including Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon State, and Washington State, as well as Iowa State, Maryland and others.

The commitment marks the fifth pledge of the month of May and puts the Ducks at No. 11 nationally according to 247Sports. Buckner is the fourth commitment from the state of Arizona for the 2021 class (Walden, Miller, and Thompson are also from Arizona).
Cristobal has hinted that there are more commitments to come in the near future, so hopefully Oregon will be able to jump No. 6 USC in recruiting. As of now, the Ducks have 10 commits with an average rating of 92.08 while USC has 13 commits with an average rating of 91.42.
