The 2020 season may be looking grim, but the 2022 season just got some good news with the commitment of Emar’rion Winston.
Emar’rion is a four-star linebacker from Central Catholic High School in Portland, and is also the younger brother of La’Mar Winston Jr. the outside linebacker that became a noted team leader during the post-Helfrich rebuild.
He’s 6-foot-3, 220 pounds and chose Oregon over and a handful of conference foes: Arizona State, UCLA and USC. According to the 247 composite, Winston is the No. 3 prospect in the state of Oregon.
Brotherly love alone did not seal the deal for the talented linebacker, his brother, Eli’jah Winston, currently plays for the USC Trojan, and it’s clear that DC Andy Avalos made a big impact on Emar’rion’s decision.
The Ducks are currently No. 5 in the 2021 recruiting cycle, and Winston is now the first commit of Oregon’s 2022 class.
