PARADISE ISLAND, BAHAMAS - The No. 9 Oregon Ducks (3-2) lost their second game in a row, this time to the No. 23 USF Bulls (4-2) in the Battle 4 Atlantis third-place game.
GAME NOTES
First Quarter
Down two starting guards, the Ducks looked sloppy at the start, turning over the ball seven times in the opening frame. Kylee Watson scored the opening bucket, then Maddie Scherr added to the lead with a jumper. Ahlise Hurst hit three triples in the first quarter to help build an 18-13 lead heading into the second.
Second Quarter
USF answered Oregon’s strong opening quarter with an 11-1 run to take a five-point lead midway through the frame. Oregon was able to rally back with good offensive play from Sydney Parrish and Sedona Prince, however the Bulls were able to enter the half with a 29-27 lead.
Third Quarter
A couple buckets from Parrish helped the Ducks keep pace for awhile, but USF pulled away in the third to build a 10-point lead. Oregon once again cut into the lead, however, a last-second shot added to the Bulls’ lead, 46-39.
Fourth Quarter
USF attempted to put away the Ducks with a 10-2 run, but Oregon punched back with an 11-1 of their own. The Ducks were able to make it a two-score game with 47 seconds remaining, but sure free throw shooting from USF sealed the upset against our beloved Ducks.
