1ST QUARTER NOTES

  • After a Camden Lewis touchback to start the game, the Seawolves ran the ball for a 4-yard gain on their first play of the game.
  • Quarterback Tyquell Fields threw an incompletion on the next play, then on 3rd-and-6 at the Seawolf 29, safety Verone McKinley III picked of Fields for his seventh career interception.
  • Oregon’s first offensive play of the game was a short pass to receiver Kris Hutson for a gain of six yards to the Stony Brook 40. Running back Travis Dye then picked up the first first down of the contest with a 12-yard run.
  • Dye was able to pick up six more yards in the next set of downs, but after being stopped on 3rd-and-5, Cristobal settled for a 40-yard field goal attempt, which Lewis delivered.

Ducks 3 - Seawolves 0

(6 plays, 24 yards, 1:57)

  • Running back Ty Son Lawton carried the ball three consecutive times for a net gain of 18 yards to reach the Stony Brook 45, but the drive died shortly after on 3rd-and-5, resulting in a punt.
  • The next Duck drive started with a two-yard run from Verdell, and on the next play receiver Johnny Johnson III earned a first down with a 12-yard reception.
  • Verdell then took control of the drive by picking up 42 yards on five carries, spelled only by a six-yard pass to tight end Moliki Matavao on 1st-and-10 and a 15-yard pass to true freshman receiver Troy Franklin.
  • Verdell ended the drive by taking a toss from Anthony Brown to the house for a 9-yard touchdown.

Ducks 10 - Seawolves 0

(10 plays, 86 yards, 3:44)

  • Starting at his own 25, Fields picked up seven yard with a pass to Shawn Harris, then running back Seba Nekhet earned a first down with a 3-yard gain on second down.
  • Fields then connected with wide receiver Khalil Newton for a 22-yard gain to the Duck 43.
  • The Seawolf drive halted at a 4th-and-4, but after a timeout they elected to go for it on the Oregon 37, and Lawton took a short screen 14 yards for the first down.
  • Stony Brook used runs from Nekhet, Fields and Lawton to pick up 23 yards, resulting in a 5-yard touchdown from Lawton.

2ND QUARTER NOTES

  • After a 16-yard return from Johnson III to the Duck 27, a four-yard run from Dye and an 8-yard pass to freshman tight end Terrence Ferguson earned the first down.
  • Johnson III tallied his second 12-yard reception of the day on the next play.
  • A Stony Brook offside on 2nd-and-3 gave Oregon another set of downs, then Brown Jr. connected with Mycah Pittman for a 30-yard gain before the receiver stepped out of bounds at the Seawolf 7.
  • Two plays later Brown Jr. took a keeper for a seven-yard touchdown.

Ducks 17 - Seawolves 7

(7 plays, 73 yards, 2:57)

  • A face mask called on Mykael Wright gave the Seawolves an early first down, but a delay of game on 3rd-and-7 doomed the drive and eventually resulted in a punt to the Duck 7.
  • An 8-yard pass to Franklin and a 15-yard run from Verdell kept the chains moving for the Ducks on the next drive, but a rare run-for-a-loss from Verdell and an offensive holding from TJ Bass on 3rd-and-11 effectively ended the drive.
  • Stony Brook started at their own 15 with 6:53 remaining before the half.
  • It appeared the Seawolves were in serious trouble with their back close to their own end zone, but a 49-yard pass to Harris over cornerback DJ James helped Stony Brook flip the field.
  • On 3rd-and-4 at the Oregon 34, Lawton picked up nine yards with his legs.
  • The Seawolves fought for a 3rd-and-1 in the Duck red zone, but a false start put them back five yards.
  • On 3rd-and-6, Fields escaped pressure and chucked the ball towards the middle of the field, where it was eagerly picked off by McKinley once again.
  • Oregon flew down the field with passes of 12, 13, and 9 to Matavao, Johnson III, and Ferguson, respectively.
  • However, the drive ended when Brown Jr. was sacked on back-to-back plays.
