BCS Standings: Ducks move to 2nd in rankings, with significant lead over No. 3 FSU

The BCS Standings after Week 9 have been released, and Oregon takes a big jump over Florida State. Alabama still holds strong lead over both teams.

Apparently the BCS computers liked what they "saw" on Saturday in Eugene, because Oregon moved up significantly in the computer averages, and took a big lead over Florida State in the latest BCS Standings.

Oregon's early struggles against UCLA didn't have any significant impact on the rankings. The Duck only lost only 0.0008 points in both polls (losing a bit in the Coaches Poll, but gaining ever so slightly in the Harris Poll). Florida state edged forward in the polls, but it was not enough to overcome the massive jump Oregon took in the Computer polls.

Coupled with Missouri's loss, Oregon jumped from .880 to .940 in the computer averages, while Florida State's game against NC State dropped them from .980 to .930.

This weeks' rankings merely confirm what everyone has been saying for the past few weeks: Alabama and Oregon are firmly in the driver's seat for the BCS Championship Game. While Florida State has a big game next week against undefeated Miami, Oregon has a game in a week and a half against a better Stanford team. Florida State now has ground to make up in both polls and the computers. And as FSU sits more than one full ranking below Oregon in both human rankings (FSU is more than 0.04 behind in both the Coaches and Harris).

At 8-0, the Ducks are where they need to be headed into November, but the biggest game of the season is in 11 days down in Palo Alto. Stanford derailed Oregon's title hopes a year ago and the Ducks will need to bring their A-game to make sure the Cardinal doesn't trip up the Ducks once again.
