WATCH: The Mark Helfrich era from beginning to end

Remember the good times.

What we all thought was coming has officially come: the Oregon Ducks have fired head football coach Mark Helfrich.

It’s not really surprising the team would fire a head coach after a 4-8 season, but the move ends an incredible 40-year stretch where the university never fired a head football coach. Helfrich was beloved by his players, but simply did not win enough games his final two seasons.

Before we get into speculating who the next coach will be (who am I kidding, that is well underway) CSN Northwest has put together a clip of the Helfrich era from beginning to end.

Get your lighters ready and check it out:

As the clip points out, Helfrich led the team to its best-ever season in 2014, a campaign that ended less than 24 months ago. That’s life in college football.

If the Ducks get the next hire right, this team will be back to those lofty heights sooner rather than later.
