The next few days are going to be very interesting for the Oregon Ducks and for all of college football as the team searches for a new head coach.
We’re hearing a lot about Western Michigan’s PJ Fleck and Boise State’s Bryan Harsin (along with a certain NFL coach), but there’s also some noise being made about a few other candidates, including USF’s Willie Taggart:
#USF's Willie Taggart is emerging as a strong candidate for the #Oregon HC vacancy, source told @FoxSports. USF is 10-2 this year.
— Bruce Feldman (@BruceFeldmanCFB) November 30, 2016
Taggart has done a great turnaround job at South Florida and the Bulls’ 10-2 record is the best in school history. He has quickly turned the program around after going 2-10 in 2013 and now USF is done being ignored.
Previously, he coached Western Kentucky to its first bowl game in 50 years with a win over in-state rival Kentucky along the way. Who knows how reliable Feldman’s source is but Taggart’s a sleeper pick that could become a great hire in Eugene.
