Oregon received its second commitment in the 2015 class on Tuesday in Mission Viego, California tight end/wide receiver, Jacob Breeland. Breeland is a 6'5, 205 lbs under the radar recruit who Oregon identified and offered very early in the recruiting process. At the time of his commitment Oregon was his only known offer. However, given the coaching staff's ability in recent years to develop tight ends, and identify underrated talent and players that fit the Oregon system, Ducks fans should be excited about Breeland's prospects.
Breeland was so under the radar that prior to his commitment to Oregon, most scouting services hadn't even ranked or evaluated him. That all changed on Wednesday when 247Sports rated him a high-end 3-star. Barton Simmons had this to say about the site's evaluation of Breeland:
He's a guy that probably would be evaluated as a wide receiver in most offenses but with Oregon he's a great fit as that hybrid tight end. The thing that really jumps out to me on Breeland is his ball skills. His QB will throw some fast balls at him in close quarters and there's no double catching, no body-catching, he snatches the ball away from his body and gets up field. He shows great ball tracking ability down the field as well...I think he's deceptively athletic and is a tough guy for a linebacker to match up with. [...]
For his skill set, i'm not sure there's a better fit in the country than Oregon.
