Oregon picked up it's first commitment in the 2016 class in rising Junior and Oregon native, Brady Breeze. He is the nephew of former Oregon Ducks and NFL star Chad Cota. The 6'1, 185 lbs safety transferred to Central Catholic in Portland this year.
While 2016 is a long ways away and many things can happen, Breeze is as solid as it can get at this stage. A lifelong Oregon fan and nephew of one of the greatest Ducks ever, he explained to the Medford Mail Tribune why he committed to the Ducks so early:
"I just thought it was the right choice to make," Breeze said Friday of his early commitment. "That school just felt like home and felt like the only school I ever wanted to go to. Why would I waste my time waiting and wasting everyone's time instead of just committing to the school I'd always dreamed of playing for?"
"There was no other school I ever wanted to go to besides Oregon," he added. "I had other interests but I never really had any other school in mind than Oregon. I'm super excited."
Breeze is a 247Sports composite 4-star and one of the best safeties in the nation for 2016. Despite suffering a broken hand at the beginning of last season, he still had five interceptions and 79 tackles on his way to a second-team all-Southwest Conference selection as a sophomore. He is also a standout baseball player. You can watch his HUDL highlight video below.
