In what turned out to be a runaway victory, Royce Freeman took home the Webfoot award for Newcomer of the Year. Freeman won the award with 65% of the votes, while Devon Allen finished second second with about a third of the votes. Dillon Brooks finished in a very distant third.

Freeman came to Oregon last year as a highly rated recruit who was expected to contribute right away, but was thrown into the lead back position while Thomas Tyner battled health issues early on. Freeman ran for over 100 yards six times in 2014, and had multiple touchdowns in seven games. By rushing for 1,365 yards last season, Freeman set a new record for Pac-12 freshman.

Freeman is set to take on a bigger role in the offense in 2015, and he seems to be ready to embrace that role.

“I kind of took pointers from (Mariota) just seeing the way he handled it,” Freeman said. “He was a standup guy and he’s really well spoken. You have to just embrace it, you only get this a certain amount of time in your life.”

Watching Freeman's follow up performance in his sophomore season in 2015/16 is something every Duck fan should all be looking forward to.

Does it surprise you that our Best Coach and Best Female Athlete awards went to those with the Oregon track & field program? It shouldn't. Last week, Oregon track coach Robert Johnson won Best Coach in our Webfoot Awards. Today, we hand the Best Female Award off to Jenna Prandini.

Prandini played a crucial role in helping the Women of Oregon take home their first outdoor track & field national title in three decades, winning the 100 and placing second in the 200. What's perhaps most impressive isn't the fact she won the individual national title in the 100, but that she set a UO school record in the 200 (22.21 seconds) less than an hour after winning the 100. The quick turnaround came with a new schedule that split men's and women's competition to separate days in order to help the fans follow the meet and hopefully create a more exciting finish to follow.

Later in June, Prandini broke her own school record in the 200 at the USATF Outdoor National Championships, becoming just the second collegiate female to win a national title in the 200 and thus, earn a spot on Team USA at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing next month.

Here's how the final voting broke down:

We are over halfway done with the Inaugural Webfoot Awards here at ATQ, and it's time to declare a 'Newcomer of the Year.'

Be sure to vote at the end of the article, and the winner will be announced this Friday. To the nominees!

Royce Freeman

Did I specifically request this award so I would have another excuse to talk about Royce Freeman? No comment.

Freeman had an incredible freshman season for the Ducks, rushing for 1,365 yards and 18 touchdowns while averaging 5.4 yards per carry for the season. After having such a great first year, Freeman took home the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award. But where Freeman really made his mark was how he amassed those totals. Freeman has been referred to as a "bowling ball with eyes," and I will say that description couldn't be more accurate. For example:

That is exactly how a bowling ball would carry a football.

And as if Freeman needed any bonus points, his best game of the season was a 169 yard, 4 touchdown performance against washington.

Dillon Brooks

If there was a Webfoot Award for surprise team of the year, the men's basketball team would probably have taken the award home. A key member of that team was freshman Dillon Brooks. Brooks averaged 11.5 points and 4.9 rebounds on the season, giving him the third highest freshman points per game in the entire Pac-12. Brooks was named to the All-Freshman Pac-12 team.

Brooks was selected to represent Canada in the Pan-Am games this summer, where he did stuff like this:

Devon Allen

Devon Allen is an interesting candidate for this award. As a football player, the 2014/15 season was Allen's coming out party as a redshirt freshman. Allen caught 41 passes for 440 yards and 7 touchdowns, giving him an average of 19 yards per catch. He made numerous big catches, including a memorable touchdown against Michigan State.

This enough would be enough to earn a nomination for this award. But if we are allowed to bend the rules and include Allen's freshman year track accomplishments, then as the saying goes, the cheese gets a little more binding.

As a runner, Allen won both the NCAA and USATF 110 hurdles, setting the second best time in the history of the NCAA.

Over the past couple weeks, we've looked back on the past year in Oregon athletics and, with your help, have picked the best game, the best play, the best coach and the best moment of the year.

Now, it's time to shift our focus to find out who was the best female athlete on campus this year. Here are the nominees. Be sure to vote at the end of the story for who you think should take home the Webfoot Award for Best Female Athlete.

Jenna Prandini - Track & Field

Jenna Prandini is one of the clear choices as a nominee for Best Female Athlete. This year, Prandini helped lead the Oregon women to their first outdoor track & field national title since 1985 with a victory in the 100 and a second-place finish in the 200, with the two races happening in less than an hour.

After helping her team to the national title, Prandini went on to set the school record in the 200 at the USATF Outdoor National Championships at Hayward Field. Her time of 22.20 seconds broke her own school record of 22.21 seconds, set at June's NCAA championships. Prandini became just the second collegiate woman in history to win a national title in the 200.

Cheridan Hawkins - Softball

Oregon softball returned to the Women's College World Series for a second straight year, in large part due to the brilliant pitching of Cheridan Hawkins.

This season, Hawkins appeared in 44 games (31 starts) and posted a record of 30-5 with a 1.64 ERA. She tossed 21 complete games, including her first ever perfect game in an 8-0 win over Washington. In 200.1 innings pitched, Hawkins struck out 282 batters while opponents hit just .142 off her.

Jillian Alleyne - Basketball

When you arrive at Jillian Alleyne's bio on GoDucks.com, you instantly notice all the awards and records she has earned during her time at Oregon. All-Pac-12, Pac-12 All-Defensive Team, Preseason Wooden Award Watch List, the awards go on and on. And the records are equally as impressive. Alleyne holds both conference and school single-season records for rebounds (519), double-doubles (29) as well as the Pac-12 and Oregon single-game record for rebounds in a game with 27.

This year with the Ducks, Alleyne started all 30 games, averaging 18.4 points, 15.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, leading Oregon in all three of those categories.

Alleyne's name has already been linked to the WNBA, where teams will be eager to utilize her size and athleticism at the next level.

Liz Brenner - All the Sports

Ok, maybe Liz Brenner doesn't play all the sports, but it seems like she's pretty damn close.

During her time at Oregon, Brenner played volleyball, basketball, track & field and softball, excelling in many of those areas. Brenner's basketball coach, Kelly Graves, called her one of the "greatest athletes in the history of the state."

If you had to pick her strongest sport, it was probably volleyball. Brenner finished her career at Oregon ranked second in points, third in kills and 10th in digs. This year with Oregon volleyball, Brenner started all 33 matches, racking up 349 kills and 389.5 points, both second on the team.

Brenner will be on campus for one final season, returning to the Oregon women's basketball team in 2015/16 for her final year of eligibility.

Mark Helfrich took home second place with 18.3% of the votes, and Joe Young brought up the rear with just 4.8% of the votes. This award was always going to be a runaway, as Mariota became the first Duck ever to take home the Heisman trophy. After he won the award, Mariota delivered a speech for the ages, thanking everyone who had an impact on him.

In the end, almost half of the total votes went to the man who brought home three national titles in 2014/15.

Each one of the coaches up for voting led their team at least to the playoffs, if not the final, for their respective sports. The University of Oregon, without question, currently offers some of the most successful athletic programs in the country - thanks in large to the talented coaching staff.

But there is no denying it: Robert Johnson and Oregon track and field had a standout year. And with the talents of Edward Cheserek, Jenna Prandini, Raevyn Rogers, and Marcus Chambers (just to name a few) returning, the Ducks will certainly have the talent to make a run for more titles next season.

This year, the Oregon men won national titles in both indoor and outdoor track & field while the women took home their first outdoor national title in 30 years. Under Johnson's leadership, Oregon's track & field program is beginning to turn into a dynasty. After all, this is the team that calls Track Town USA home.

Today, we continue the first Webfoot Awards hosted by ATQ with the "Best Moment of the 2014/15 Season." Our nominees will make you laugh, cry, and contemplate life's moral questions. Without further ado, here are your nominees.

Get ready for all the /feels.

Marcus Mariota's Heisman Speech

If sentimental moments are your cup of tea, then Mariota's Heisman acceptance speech is a no-brainer for this award. We all knew the award was coming, and Mariota gave a humble and honest speech, one that would probably seem a little contrived if it didn't come from the most humble and honest guy in the world.

This award was also a moment of vindication, as many of us think it would've came a year earlier if Mariota had been healthy the entire season.

Fa'afetai tele lava [thank you very much]. God bless, and go Ducks.

Jesus, Girls, and Marcus Mariota

Let's set the scene really quickly:

It's November, Mark Helfrich's Oregon Ducks have just beaten Colorado to improve to 10-1 on the season. The mood in the post game press conference is light and cheerful, and a student from a local school gets a chance to ask Helfrich a question.

Everyone assumes the student will throw Helfrich a softball, but instead he asks the question on everyone's mind.

"Do you know anything about Marcus Mariota, is he staying or is he leaving? I mean that's the talk around school"

Helfrich follows up, wondering exactly what IS the talk around school? Turns out there's three things:

We need this kid at every presser in 2015.

Joe Young Locker Room Speech After Wisconsin Loss

Now back to the sentimental /feels portion. After a great season for Oregon basketball, one where they greatly outperformed expectations, the Ducks were back in a familiar place - playing Wisconsin in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In a game Oregon wasn't even supposed to keep close, the Ducks narrowly lost by a final of 72-65 on the back of Joe Young's 30 point performance. After the game, Young, a senior, had some words for the underclassmen who would be back in Eugene next year:

This video didn't receive nearly as much attention as the first two, but was still an amazing moment from last year. Usually, you learn that the best players on the court are real jerks off it, far from the role models they appear to be when nailing jumpers. Joe Young is a role model both on the court and off it, and this video is the perfect example why.

Vote for the Top Oregon Plays of 2014/15 consisting of some football and basketball highlights. Rusty did his best picking the best plays at pivotal moments in the games and seasons. Your vote is ultimately what matters most.

I did my best to nail this down to four plays. I severely underestimated how difficult this would be to do. Also, after looking at tons of highlights I'm really going to miss Joe Young and Marcus Mariota next year.

Oregon v. Florida State in the Rose Bowl: Tony Washington fumble return for a touchdown

If this isn't the best play of the year it is damn sure the funniest. It's this game in a nutshell. It has pressure on Jameis Winston, Winston doing something dumb, a turnover, Tony Washington scoring a touchdown, and a ref falling over.

This play happened with just over four minutes left in the third and pushed Oregon ahead 45-20. It came at a point where Florida State was really struggling to move the ball and score points. A dagger to the Florida State hopes embodied. I remember being in the stadium and there was a healthy mix of cheering for the play and laughing at how out of hand the game had gotten against a Florida State team that had been unbeaten for so long and had the most obnoxious fan base in the country.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu Makes Amazing Interception Against Michigan State

There's a lot of highlights you could pull from this game. You could pick Mariota evading pressure in the pocket and making a perfect shuffle pass to Royce Freeman in the flats to convert a much needed third down. You could pick Devon Allen weaving his way between a couple defensive backs for a long touchdown catch. You could pick Royce Freeman breaking free to the outside for a touchdown.

Ifo's pick came with 8 minutes left in the game with Oregon up 39-27. Michigan State was looking to score and make it a one score game. Then a pass out to a Spartan receiver running post pattern was tipped into the air and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu made one of the most amazing, athletic, and jaw-dropping play ever. The excitement of the fans was matched by Ifo's post-interception celebration.

The more you watch this play the more impressive it becomes.

Oregon v. Utah: Joe Walker takes advantage of Kaelin Clay's boneheaded play

After a very slow, ugly first quarter Oregon was down 7-0 but it felt like the gap was much wider. Oregon punted and turned the ball over on downs and Utah had scored a touchdown and had stopped themselves with a fumble on the next drive.

Utah was about to go up 14-0 when amazing happened. The finish in the fast, hard, finish. Joe Walker made a 14-point swing and sparked a scoring streak for Oregon that would give them a lot of cushion. Like a lot of Oregon games the tide changes when the other team makes a mistake and Oregon pounces.

Joseph Young sends Oregon to Pac-12 Tournament title game with game-winning shot against Utah

Just as Sean said this was one of the best games of the season this game also had one of the best plays of the season. Joseph Young hitting a three with one second left from an absurd distance was simply unbelievable. Especially considering the circumstances of the season. There were zero expectations and Joseph Young put the team on his back multiple times.

This shot got Oregon to the conference championship and brought down a great Utah team. Joseph Young has ice in his veins and just signed a four-year deal with the Indiana Pacers.
